Ladies from Lucky Magazine stop by the LAB
Yesterday, fashion market editor for Lucky Magazine, Noria Morales and LA account sales Jill Biren stopped by the Chip + Pepper offices for a friendly hello and to talk about the August Denim guide. As the ladies looked around the PR office and skimmed through the summer and fall 09 woman's line there was a wash that stood out to Noria. The Ontario wash, which has the yellow tint to give denim a true vintage look.
We hope it makes the denim guide. The girls went home happy with their choice of denim. Noria took home the Peyton shorts in Powerline to keep her cool in the hot LA weather. Jill preferred Slider in Wonderland White the best white skinny denim for the summer!

WWD recognizes American made products = Chip and Pepper denim
When WWD editor Dick contacted Chip and Pep about being one of the few clothing labels made in USA we have to be honest and say we were tickled. In a world where the economy is slowing deteriorating it's important to help out whenever and with whatever you can. Whether it's buying groceries from local a farm or buying American made cars. That is why Chip and Pep were glad to speak to Dick and tell him about the struggle and successes of being made not only in America but in Los Angeles, California. You can read below or go to your local newsstand and support an amazing publication Woman's Wear Daily.

Say hello to Nikky Martin
As sewers, washers, cutters, pattern makers, designers, and production teams scramble to get the fall 09 production ready for stores I wanted to introduce you to Nikky Martin. Nikky is new to the Chip and Pepper family. Similar to our skinny Slider Nikky is named after Chip's wife and has the skinny jean fit but with exaggerated side seam zippers. The washed out and distressed red and gray are amazing. There is one other wash in Union Sqaure, which has to be the softest denim you ever felt, no lie.
Stylists ton y vanvan www.issuu.com/tonyvanvan borrowed Nikky Martin in Red Rover and Ash Wash for their shoot with photogrpahers Neil Sharum www.neilsharum.com and Brendan Burdzinski www.brendanburdzinski.com.
Nikky Martin will be available summer 2009 at select stores, online retailers, and on chipandpepper.com. Be sure to sign up to Chip and Pepper's newsletter to receive the latest news on arrivals, sales, sample sales, and any other important info!

Pull Your Jeans Not Your Lycra
Chip and Pepper started a maternity line in 2005 when their families started to grow and they found that their wives wanted fashionable jeans to wear during their pregnancy. 2005 was also the year infamous pop singer Britney Spears became pregnant with her first son, so Chip and Pep decided to create custom cut off shorts for the singer properly titled, Sex with the X. Ms. Spears loved them and since then Chip and Pep have expanded their maternity line to denim shorts, skirts, and pants. Recently, Stephanie, blogger for Metropolitan Mama http://metropolitanmama.net/ listed her all time favorite pregnancy products you must have. Of course, Chip and Pepper maternity denim, Mamasita in Lynn Lake made it to the top of the list. Read the post to get more details on what this mamasita thought about the cut, style, and feel of the jean. http://metropolitanmama.net/2009/05/6-pregnancy-products-you-probably-want/.

CP denim on VH1 Top 20 Countdown
Sweetheart Alana at Vh1 requested some denim for Jim Shearer, host of Vh1's Top 20 Countdown. Below are some stills of Jim interviewing Plain White Ts. Jim is wearing style 87 made of selvage denim. For all you non-denimheads selvage denim is a type of denim which forms a clean natural edge that does not unravel. It is commonly presented in the unwashed or raw state. Typically, the selvage edges will be located along the out-seam of the pants, making it visible when cuffs are worn. (thanks wikipedia)
Style 87 is a low riding slim straight leg jean named after the year Pep and Chip exploded onto the fashion.
